KhanThe East Caribbean Financial Holding Group (ECFH), Saint Lucia’s premiere financial services group, officially launched EC Global Insurance Company close to 10 years ago on September 26, 2004. This was a strategic move at that time to broaden and expand its existing range of financial services which included commercial, development and investment banking, mortgage financing, offshore banking, property management and legal & trust services.

Strategic Partnership with GraceKennedy Financial Group

ECFH recognized very early on the advantages of engaging strategic partners who shared a common corporate vision and had a cultural philosophy that was aligned with its own.

They joined forces with the internationally recognized GraceKennedy Financial Group from Jamaica to create a solid foundation on which to build EC Global. Through this partnership both sides were able to strategically leverage the synergies that were created from this cross-border alliance.

Currently the combined total assets between both parties are in excess of US$2.20 billion. This financial strength is but one pillar which underpins the confidence with which EC Global has stood in the market.

The journey of the past 10 years for EC Global has been one of quiet triumphs and proud accomplishments. This was made possible by a team of young but deeply dedicated professionals, committed to our public promise to raise the bar on professionalism and service excellence in the insurance industry.

In a market characterized by unprecedented levels of competition and an increasingly sophisticated and discerning public, EC Global was able to differentiate itself in several remarkable ways.  As a new insurance company seeking to establish itself among other well established regional and international insurers, EC Global dared to be different. It boldly created innovative branding strategies to develop niche markets that did not previously exist.

These included the following initiatives:

  1. Angel Advantage Motor Comprehensive Policy - Created and developed exclusively for female drivers in recognition of their very favourable accident and claims records.
  2. Auto-Max – still Saint Lucia’s baggiest and most successful motor sales marketing initiative. This event brought all auto dealers together with Bank of Saint Lucia and EC Global to create a grand one-stop-shop facility for auto sales, financing and insurance.
  3. Auto Clinic – A first for Saint Lucia, this was a practical, hands-on seminar designed for first-time female drivers. They were taught about the fundamentals of general care car, maintenance and security strategies.
  4. Knowledge Initiative Seminars - A forward thinking series of free public educational seminars. Through these very informative island-wide seminars, EC Global enlightened and educated the insuring public on some of the more critical aspects of their insurance policies and topical “hot button” issues.
  5. MicroInsurance – Introduction of the first ever, officially approved microinsurance product in the English speaking Caribbean.This was donethrough the Livelihood Protection Policy (LPP), a Parametric or Weather Indexed Insurance policy designed to protect the livelihoods of the most vulnerable persons in our community against extreme weather events caused by wind and rainfall. This includes individuals such as farmers, fishermen and day labourers who normally are unable to access traditional insurance protection.
